BUT

I was listening to a Christian speaker on the radio, and he was talking about Saul and how he was given the order by God to totally destroy the Amalekites and all their flocks. This was because of what they did to the Israelites as they came up from Egypt on their way to the promised land. Saul went and attacked the Amalekites, but he did not destroy all the animals, they kept all the good and healthy animals. When Samuel, God’s prophet came to question him, Saul made excuses about wanting to use the animals to sacrifice to God. The speaker termed Saul’s actions as going to the college of “Yeah but”. When we know Gods commands and what we are supposed to do, but we find excuses and use the term, “yeah but”, and then make an excuse. We have all probably attended the college of “Yeah but” in our lives. We know what God wants, but we rationalize our behaviors and we do not follow God’s will. This gets very dangerous for us as the more we do it, the more we think it is ok. Dear God, help us to follow your will and not “Yeah but” our way to disobedience.

IN THE CLASSROOM:

5th - 8th Grade, in their Geography classes, created globes using balloons and “puzzle pieces” that were the shape of each country. They had to figure out where they went in relation to others. They were a very neat display hanging in the halls for a week or so.

ECLIPSE NOT SEEN:

Despite all the clouds during the eclipse, most students ventured out to see if we could catch a glimpse at all of the marvel with our special glasses. We didn’t get to see the moon move over the sun, but we did notice a change in the darkness created by the cloudy day (it did get a tad darker) AND most of the students noticed the temperature change (almost 5 degrees colder!).
