Principal Corner

I recently was part of a discussion that talked about the mission of Trinity Lutheran Church and School. I almost asked the question, what is our mission? It was not the teacher coming out in me wanting to test everyone, but I wanted people to focus on what the mission of our ministry is and what our own individual mission is. The quick version of the mission of Trinity Lutheran Church and School is making disciples for Jesus Christ. That comes from the great commission that Jesus gave before he ascended into Heaven. When I first came to Trinity 18 years ago, I often heard about the Mission of Love. That was the building program that added the gym, locker rooms, kitchen and three classrooms to the school. This was completed in 1987 and many members talked about the work that was done to complete the project. How members volunteered to help or volunteered their older children so instead of helping on the farm they helped to build a wonderful building that is used extensively to proclaim the Gospel to children and adults. The people viewed the school as the mission of the church It is a mission more so than ever, as the number of non-member children that attend Trinity is higher than at previous times in our history. What a great opportunity to spread the Love of God through the Gospel to families within our community and the communities around us. TLS is a mission of our church Thank you to the founders who had the vision to start a school to teach children about Jesus.

CHAPEL OFFERING: October

During the month of October, we will be raising funds for the Shoeboxes we send off in November from Samaritan’s purse.: Operation Christmas Child.

Click on the image below to learn more.

We will provide families with a shoebox to pack. Start shopping and collecting items to fill your shoebox. Shoeboxes will be available to pick up from school in a few weeks and we will also have a deadline of when they will need to be dropped back off to the school and the students will gather for a send off! Check out the packing suggestions by clicking the red button below. Please be mindful of not overfilling the box. If it needs a rubber band, it is too full.

Please also pay attention to the list of things you should NOT include in the shoebox - reading instructions is important. Many have ignored this list in the past and everything gets thrown in the trash if it is not allowed to be in the shoebox.

Hobby Lobby does a great job of having marked shelves designated for shoebox purchases as well as shoeboxes to use (if we run out, which would be a blessing!) If you decide to get your own shoebox, it must be the size of their shoeboxes or an average shoebox, not oversized. They give these gifts out to many children across the globe and want them to be EQUAL in size and fullness. Think about when your child sees someone else with a bigger present than what they are given, how do they feel? So please follow their guidelines.

You can also send a virtual box (just a monetary donation) from the website and also purchase items and someone at Samaritan’s Purse builds a physical box for you! You just pay to have it filled! Lots of options to give back this upcoming holiday season.

DO NOT INCLUDE: Soap; candy; toothpaste; gum; used or damaged items; scary or war-related items such as toy guns, knives, or military figures; chocolate or food; seeds; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes (powdered or liquid); liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans; alcohol wipes.

Papers or payments to drop off?

There is a locked box outside the office and a tray for paperwork. (signs indicating their use have been up since Orientation night!) Please leave papers face down and put any payments into the black box. With Mr. Stockman teaching full time, there is no one in the office until Jacqie arrives for the day, so please leave these items in either of these two places so they can easily be found and taken care of. Thank you.

NEED PARENT SERVICE HOURS?

Trinity Lutheran School would not run or function without our families and all your hard work! We strive on showing our students a great work ethic and a drive to help and volunteer! Because of this, we ask that each family completes 10 hours of volunteer hours throughout the school year (if you only have a child in the Preschool, we only ask you complete 5 hours). Many events put on by PTL, Athletics and just helping around at the school provide plenty of opportunity to help out! Please don’t hesitate to check out the volunteer page on the website: https://seal-leopard-8yt2.squarespace.com/volunteer
