Principal Corner
Our theme is rooted in Christ, and we have been talking about how to be rooted in Christ through church attendance, bible study, prayer to God. I was thinking we not only have to do those things, but we must trust God. What does trusting God look like? I was playing some golf the other day, and I would like to offer this comparison. I have learned that in golfing I have to trust my swing and commit to it. Well, what the heck does that mean? For me, it means swinging a normal swing and letting the club do the work. If I swing too hard because I really want to hit the ball a long way, or I rush my down swing, or I pull across the ball because I want to add something extra, or I lift my head up to see where the ball is going before I hit the ball, it usually messes up the shot and I do not hit a good shot. I did not trust my swing and my club to hit the shot, I thought I had to do something more with the club to have a great shot. Sometimes in our life we try to do more. We try to help God fix the mess we got into because we know what needs to be done. If we really knew what needed to be done, we wouldn’t have been in a mess in the first place. We do not trust God to take care of those things that He needs to take care of for us. In these cases, we need to let go and let God. God doesn’t need our help, but we really need His.
TLS COLOR FUN RUN
RED, WHITE & ROOTED IN CHRIST
Our 18th ANNUAL FUN RUN will take place on Friday, September 25th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. This is the only FUN-draiser in which we ask students to participate. Unlike most fundraisers which require students to sell items, the students are asked to obtain pledges per lap, or donations, from family and friends, and then run laps around the playground. It’s a fantastic fun day. The money raised helps pay for many items needed for our students and keep our school running every year!
We want 100% student participation and have a goal of $20,000. Students can obtain prizes by reaching different levels of donations. We also ask each student to raise a minimum of $50. If we can accomplish that, then maybe something special will happen! All students receive a shirt so that the kids can match the day of the fun run AND can hopefully COLOR their shirt. This year is a color run, so there will be colored chalk to help make their white shirts colorful. We are testing out some options to make the color stick! Stay tuned next week for some tips and tricks!
All donations and forms are due Oct 1st to the classroom teacher, to qualify a student for the classroom prizes! We have a competition every year for the highest per student money raised gets some special treatment!
COLOR PRE-ORDER
THURSDAY 9/24 - Pre Order Begins
THE BIGGEST difference in a color run versus other fun runs is the kids, the staff, the volunteers get to spread color! Students can pre-order packs of their very own color to throw in the air! We’ve gotten some amazing photos in the past and can’t wait to see how colorful we can get this year! 10 different colors to choose from. $2 per packet, students can “order” their own color packets to be given to them at the fun run. Bring money to school and their teacher will instruct them further.
ALL students will be given their fun run shirt FRIDAY MORNING to change into.

TRICKS TO MAKE THE COLOR STAY
To attempt at making the amazing color stay on your child’s fun run shirt after the fun run here are some tips from good ol’ Google.
Try not to shake any excess off the shirt. Put in a plastic bag immediately after the fun run if you don’t want it in your car.
Soak with white vinegar - lay it flat and spray with vinegar and let it air dry.
Turn it inside out and iron the shirt with a towel between the iron and the shirt.
Toss it in the dryer on high heat for 10 minutes.
Future washing by hand or by itself on a gentle cycle, inside out, in cold water with very little detergent & air dry.

CHAPEL OFFERING: September
During the month of September, we will be raising funds and collecting items for the Crisis Nursery - Mankato Area. We will be focusing on items for out in the cold! The Crisis Nursery could really use mittens or gloves from toddler size all the way to adult. All money collected in September will also be donated to get them $15 Gas cards for families they serve.

Trinity Lutheran School would not run or function without our families and all your hard work! We strive on showing our students a great work ethic and a drive to help and volunteer! Because of this, we ask that each family completes 10 hours of volunteer hours throughout the school year (if you only have a child in the Preschool, we only ask you complete 5 hours). Many events put on by PTL, Athletics and just helping around at the school provide plenty of opportunity to help out! An easy way to help our school is through the Box Tops for Education program. If you have a smart phone, you can do the following to start helping our school earn money.
Download the Box Tops for Education App

You can pick a class to associate with your earnings (optional)
Buy products on the list and scan your grocery store receipt.
Anyone can earn box tops for Trinity so you can send a referral to aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends and family. If you refer a friend and they download the app both you and the referred person can earn 25 bonus box tops. Box tops are worth 10 cents each. As a bonus, if you have a Walmart account, you can link your Box Tops to your Walmart account and any time you make a purchase at Walmart it automatically adds your box top points for you!
We get money for collected Hy-Vee Receipts!
This money goes directly to our school. For every $150 in Hy-Vee Receipts, the local Hy-Vee donates to schools enrolled in the Kash4Kids program.
RECEIPT GUIDELINES:
Receipts can only be from 9/1/26-5/27/27 – anything from this past summer doesn’t count. Same for next year, don’t collect over the summer, they can only be collected during the months that school is in session.
ONLY Mankato Hy-Vee Locations
NO alcohol, prescription or gift card purchases count.
NO receipts that say “Cancelled” or “Duplicate”.
Hy-Vee had a competition between schools for a bonus amount and we got 2nd place!! YAHOO! More soon on how much we received total from last year.
