Principal Corner

People have said to me, “You wear many hats.” And I respond, “Yes, I do.” When wearing many hats, you have to make the decision on which “hat” gets your attention at that point and which hats get put on the shelf for a while. Sunday, I was talking with Pastor Dahl and his wife Barbara, and he mentioned wearing many hats, he then told me what one person told him about juggling many different things. When that person was asked how he managed all these different things, his response was I throw them up into the air to God, and when God is ready for me to work with them, He drops them back down to me. When working in ministry, trusting in God has to come first no matter how busy our lives are at the time or what we are going through. We need to trust that God is with us, that He is only giving us what we can handle and that He has surrounded us with people to help manage what He has given to us. If we still find ourselves overwhelmed, we need to make sure this is something God wants us to do, that we are not trying to do it on our own when He has given us people to help, and that we have the God given abilities to do the job. I find when I try to be “Super Principal” and do everything on my own without help, things do not go the best. I get stressed, lose sleep, and am probably not a fun person to be around. And in those times, I remember the passage from Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to me, all you who are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
