Principal Corner

Yesterday we had elections in our country, and those elections brought victories for some candidates and losses for others. Elections can stir strong emotions, and I believe they matter as those elected will help shape the next few years. One person posted on social media that they now have hope after the results of the election. My initial thought is others probably have the exact opposite feeling. But thinking further about that statement, where had their hope gone? My hope is always with me, and it is a hope of knowing that my Savior died on the cross for my sins. I feel bad for the person who posted and for many others who put their hope in things of this world. For if we put our hope in elections, money, and people we will be let down. But when we put our hope in Jesus Christ, our hope is constant knowing that God is in control of this world. We may face disappointments, struggles and our candidate our team, or for whatever else we root for may lose. But knowing that Jesus has won the victory over sin, death and the devil and that God is in control should help us walk in the light. Another post I saw had it right. Another swinging of the political pendulum, and Jesus is still Lord and Savior. I can rest easy knowing God is in control and my home is waiting for me in heaven.

WEEKLY RECAP

Third Grade went all out, like Mrs. Manning does annually, and did their own reenactment of the nailing of the 95 Theses by Martin Luther -known as Reformation Day. They also celebrate what this means for us as Lutherans and they celebrate!

First Grade uses their newly learned measurement skills and help make pumpkin pancakes. It definitely smells good in the halls when they are enjoying them in this fall tradition with Mrs. H

CHAPEL OFFERING: October & most of November

During the month of October, we will be raising funds for the Shoeboxes we send off in November from Samaritan’s purse.: Operation Christmas Child.

Click on the image below to learn more.

We will provide families with a shoebox to pack and you can pick it up at conferences. Start shopping and collecting items to fill your shoebox. Shoeboxes will be available to pick up from school in a few weeks and we will also have a deadline of when they will need to be dropped back off to the school and the students will gather for a send off! Check out the packing suggestions by clicking the red button below. Please be mindful of not overfilling the box. If it needs a rubber band, it is too full.

Please also pay attention to the list of things you should NOT include in the shoebox - reading instructions is important. Many have ignored this list in the past and everything gets thrown in the trash if it is not allowed to be in the shoebox.

Hobby Lobby does a great job of having marked shelves designated for shoebox purchases as well as shoeboxes to use (if we run out, which would be a blessing!) If you decide to get your own shoebox, it must be the size of their shoeboxes or an average shoebox, not oversized. They give these gifts out to many children across the globe and want them to be EQUAL in size and fullness. Think about when your child sees someone else with a bigger present than what they are given, how do they feel? So please follow their guidelines.

You can also send a virtual box (just a monetary donation) from the website and also purchase items and someone at Samaritan’s Purse builds a physical box for you! You just pay to have it filled! Lots of options to give back this upcoming holiday season.

DO NOT INCLUDE: Soap; candy; toothpaste; gum; used or damaged items; scary or war-related items such as toy guns, knives, or military figures; chocolate or food; seeds; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes (powdered or liquid); liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans; alcohol wipes.

NEED PARENT SERVICE HOURS?

Trinity Lutheran School would not run or function without our families and all your hard work! We strive on showing our students a great work ethic and a drive to help and volunteer! Because of this, we ask that each family completes 10 hours of volunteer hours throughout the school year (if you only have a child in the Preschool, we only ask you complete 5 hours). Many events put on by PTL, Athletics and just helping around at the school provide plenty of opportunity to help out! Please don’t hesitate to check out the volunteer page on the website: https://seal-leopard-8yt2.squarespace.com/volunteer
