Principal Corner

Last week I shared that I like to golf. I enjoy being with friends, the challenge to get a good score and being outdoors and enjoying God’s creation. I enjoy the beauty of golf courses with the mowed grass, trees, water usually near or on the course. I am not always the best golfer and here are a few reasons why. Sometimes I try to do too much. Instead of trusting my club or swing, I try to hit it harder than I should, or in a different way than I should. I just try too hard to do it on my own. Sometimes I do not fully commit to a shot. I look up, swing hesitantly, try to be too perfect. When hitting a flop shot or out of the bunker, you need to fully commit to get the shot right. Not fully committing can lead to a very bad shot and put you in a worse place than you were.  Sometimes I am just like one of the people I golf with who said, “I am not a bad golfer, I am just stupid.” I try to hit a shot I should not, hit the wrong direction, get lined up the wrong way. Or try to pull off a shot that would challenge a pro golfer. Golf can be very frustrating, but then I do what I should and hit the ball well and make a par or even a birdie and I keep wanting to play golf and duplicate those results. I believe when being a good Christian, some of those same problems arise. I try to do too much. I do not trust that God will bring me through a tough time or do what I need. So, I try to do it myself without relying on God. Sometimes I am not fully committed to being a Christian. I do not spend time in devotion, prayer and bible study. I may be afraid to share my faith in public or around certain friends. I do not act as a follower of Jesus should act. And sometimes I do stupid stuff. I know I should not do it, but I do it anyway. I make choices that are not the best choices and sometimes I pay for the consequences for those choices. But the good news is that when I go to God and confess my sins, God forgives me my sins and gives me grace and mercy. God is able to do all things, I need to trust Him and the answers He gives me in my life. So if you see a golf course or some golfers when you are out and about, or you are on the golf course yourself, or you see me with my golf clubs remember trust God, be committed to being a follower of Christ, and God will forgive you for the mistakes you make.

Last performances for the year

6-8 Band Plays at Graduation, WEDNESDAY, May 20th at 6:30 pm

CLOSING CHAPEL & Kindergarten Graduation

Friday, May 22nd, is our last day of school. Students should check into school like normal. They will have some activities in their classrooms and then parents and family are invited to join us at 9:30 am at the church for our closing chapel, class recognition & Kindergarten Graduation. The Kindergarten class will also then have a small reception after their graduation ceremony.

Students will receive their final report card at that time, with possibly other fun goodies and awards from their teachers and the school. We are done at 11 am.

If your child needs to stay longer than 11, please send Jacqie and email and we will arrange for SAC or WAC(PK) until 3 pm only.

This is a half day. There is no school or care otherwise after 11 am unless it is requested via email.

CHAPEL OFFERING: May

During the month of May, our chapel offering helps benefit our Adopt A Student Fund. This fund is set aside for anyone who may need assistance with tuition during the school year. We want everyone to be able to come to Trinity without the burden of the financial cost, and we understand that sometimes life throws us curveballs that make it harder at times. This fund is there to help when we are able.

Forms went home last week!

WHAT AN AMAZING CHOIR AND BAND CONCERT TO CLOSE OUT THE YEAR!

Please check it out at the link below. You can share it with other family and friends that were not able to make it.

Concessions Closeout

It’s the end of the year and every treat from concessions MUST GO! Starting Monday, May 11th - there will be discounted candy for sale for students to purchase. If you want to allow your child to purchase anything, don’t forget to send money! This will go until it is gone! We still have some left.

Principal Cecilia In Session

Cecilia Schreader got the special gift of being Principal for the day on Tuesday. How did she get such a prestigious award? A family member bid on the opportunity at our Live Auction in April and was the highest bidder! During her day as TLS Principal, Cece helped do morning announcements, checked on all the classrooms, helped practice safety by pulling the fire alarm and helping Principal Stockman review our performance during the fire drill, enjoy many different recesses, got a few treats, and help monitor Safety Patrol at the end of the day. If she was principal for more than just a day, Cece has decided everyone gets a raise and everyone would get one treat per day, but only one because we don’t want cavities!

Penny Wars Results

Congratulations 6th Grade for having the largest amount of points!!! Points are calculated by taking the positive (pennies and dollars) and subtracting the silver coins. They will receive a special treat and an extra recess. The most overall money raised was 2nd Grade! Thanks for all your hard work!

And 3rd Grade…well…you tried.

A MESSAGE FROM MRS STEEL

Dear parents, students, and staff-

Thank you so much for the gifts on May 1st. I had so many emotions that day it was overwhelming. I realized something was up when I got my 6th case of Cherry Pepsi. The students blessed me with plants, bunny stuff, turtles, peanut characters, flavored water, flowers, pop, snacks, and socks. I have been blessed by teaching my last 8 years at TLS. Thank you again for letting me make an impact on your child. Now it is time to take care of my family and grand baby.  Thank you Adalyn for adopting Coco the bunny! I know she is in good hands with you.

~Stacey Steel

DOOR CODES

IF you are not picking your child up and someone else on your list is, please let us know ahead of time so we can get them a door code. If you did not get a code and your child is not a regular, please contact the office for a code BEFORE your child will be attending SAC.

Preschool Parents, PLEASE USE YOUR code before school (before 8:10 am) and after school (after 3:15 pm). The teachers should not and cannot leave the students they are in charge of to open the door.

SAC Parents, your door code is only useable during PM SAC hours. If you are coming to the school for any other reason at any other time, you will need to ring the doorbell. This is for your child’s safety.

COMING SOON: SAC will use the SIDE door, the old “SAC Door” - currently there is a key pad there but the door is waiting on a part for it to fully function. Please use the front door or gym door still until further notice. When that door is finished, you’ll have access to the SAC door and the Gym door only instead.

MAJOR REMINDERS & Key Points

  • Please try to use Procare to send a message regarding students being absent. Remember when sending a message, to make sure it is clear when the student will be absent by using dates and times. Right now, we are waiting on some repairs of some of our technology so you cannot be let in unless someone is in the office. So in order to let you in properly, we need to know the date and time. This also helps reduce confusion as well. Your time is precious so we are trying to be as efficient as possible.

  • Our doors open at 8:10 am - 8:20 am. All K-8 students here before 8:10 am must enter via the gym door. Only if you need to speak to the office should you be ringing the doorbell and coming in the front before 8:10 am. The gym door is open, from 7:00 am - 8:20 am. You may have to tug a little harder but it should be open.

  • At the end of the day, doors open at 3:05 pm. We encourage you to wait outside for your child to ease congestion in our hallways.

  • If you come in the building during school hours, you must stop in at the office. This is a requirement, not a suggestion.

  • If children are being picked up during the day they MUST be signed out in the office. Please do not go searching the school for your child(ren).

  • Even if family members are “approved” for pick up, we still need to be notified when someone other than their parent/guardian is picking them up. Having them approved just means we have all the information we need from them ahead of time.

  • SAC and PK families: DO NOT share your door codes and please DO NOT use someone else’s door code. I will deactivate your code if I see they are being abused.

  • Even if you have a door code, it is only usable during those program hours i.e. SAC is from 3:15 pm - 5:30 pm.

NEED PARENT SERVICE HOURS?

Trinity Lutheran School would not run or function without our families and all your hard work! We strive on showing our students a great work ethic and a drive to help and volunteer! Because of this, we ask that each family completes 10 hours of volunteer hours throughout the school year (if you only have a child in the Preschool, we only ask you complete 5 hours). Many events put on by PTL, Athletics and just helping around at the school provide plenty of opportunity to help out! Please don’t hesitate to check out the volunteer page on the website: https://seal-leopard-8yt2.squarespace.com/volunteer
